8 foot Glass Sliders.
I am replacing two sets of Peachtree wooden frame glass sliders. These are top of the line doors from 25 years ago. Just price Peach Tree to see how top quality they are. One of the best things about them is that the woden frames that hold the glass come apart so you can replace the glass for only about $150 a panel as opposed to replacing the whole door set for well over $1,000. I replaced 3 of the glass panels myself when I first bought this cottage because the house had major water damage due to broken pipes that were let run in the house for months in the winter. The glass got a little cloudy being in what was a steam bath for so long. The glass is easy to replace and available. The problem with the doors is that due to the location in our cottage the bottom and side frames in one corner of each set show signs of dry rot. These fram parts could be replaced but they would have to be made by a mill shop as they are no longer available from Peach Tree. I'm told that is not a problem as the existing frame could just be copied. My problem is that I would have to have someone do the work as I am no longer able to remove and lift these heavy doors. Plus while the parts are being made we would have to do something to keep the door openings covered. It just gets too complicated. But if you are able to put in sliders yourself you can buy these from me, have the frame parts made and install them. If you only need one door there are enough good frame parts on the two sets to make one good set with out any extra mill work or expense. Plus you would have some good replacement parts should you ever need them. We are having new doors put in during the month of August so these doors should be available by the middle of August. In the meantime you could come look at them and make me an offer. I will sell them for the best offer. Give me a call if you want to take a look at them.
